Turmeric is amazing! And it’s more than just for Indian cuisine. Its main ingredient curcumin has been well-studied and well-documented for its natural health benefits and bioactive benefits in a wide array of health conditions.
Curcumin modulates around 700 genes, improves more than 160 physiological pathways, helps organize cell membranes and affects signaling molecules that interact with proteins to prevent inflammation, boost immune responses and improve metal removal. According to studies done on curcumin, the compound can be therapeutic for lung and liver disease, neurological and metabolic diseases, autoimmune disorders, heart and inflammatory diseases.
Curcumin supports health cholesterol levels and prevents low-density lipoprotein oxidation, blood clots, heart attacks, suppresses symptoms of type 2 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, enhances healing of wounds, protects against cataracts, reduces systemic inflammation such as in osteoarthritis, is a strong anti-cancer agent and much more.
Curcumin is even capable of crossing your blood-brain barrier and promotes brain health. For instance, it helps inhibit the buildup of beta-amyloids in the brain of Alzheimer’s patients and breaks up existing plaques associated with this disease. It also inhibits inflammation. Turmeric also has another compound called turmerone which helps repair and regenerate brain activity. This could have a major effect on Alzheimer’s, dementia and other brain disorders.
Curcumin is more powerful than any other nutrient in fighting cancer including vitamin D. It is useful for just about every type of cancer. It is non-toxic, does not affect healthy cells while selectively targeting cancer cells. While dietary turmeric is a good preventer, clinical results would require a more concentrated dose of bioavailable extract.
“There are simple herbs that can be used for the recovery of the sick, whose effect upon the system is very different from that of those drugs that poison the blood and endanger life.” Manuscript 73, 1908

Saturday May 23rd, 2015 at 02:46 AMYou can get herbal ear drops at a good health food store– If you have a “Sprouts” market — they have a great health food section always up in the front corner of the store and knowledgeable people there–

Saturday May 23rd, 2015 at 02:42 AMIt needs to be 95% Curcuminoids and should also have Bioperine (from black pepper) which helps it’s absorption–generally I see 5% of that in it. I take one that I like from Swanson vitamins (.com) They have great products at really good prices– I get their brand 875 mg and take at least one, twice a day–more is even better. it has 60 in the bottle and the price is better than any where I have seen– all of their items are a discounted price– many their own label and also name brand labels. Often they have buy one get one sales and bigger discounts.. check it out!

Saturday May 23rd, 2015 at 02:34 AMThanks for posting this great overview of Tumeric. My husband and I have been taking it for several months now. After my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers and dies recently, I have been really conscious of my faltering memory. I have always been pretty health savvy and have read natural health info for many years, but I don’t always follow as closely as I could! But now at 63 and with increasing aliments I am doing much more to reverse –or at least slow father time…..
