The Sun, by Ashley Armstrong: HSBC says it will pay for staff to have sex change treatments.
Bosses want trans and non-binary employees to “be their true authentic self”.
The bank’s UK Pride team sent an internal memo this week informing them of its new “gender dysphoria benefit”.
From the start of next year, HSBC will cover diagnosis, mental health treatments, hormone consultation, speech therapy, hair removal and surgery for workers.
The bank defines gender dysphoria “as a person who doesn’t align with their biological sex and is a recognised medical condition”.
Employees, their partners and their children under the age of 21 can apply to have their gender reassignment surgeries paid for by the bank.
There are under-18s treatment exclusions.
HSBC said: “By providing access to gender affirmation treatment, we hope that our trans and non-binary colleagues and their dependants are able to be their true authentic self.”
NatWest said in August it would pay for transgender staff to get privately-funded hormone treatment.
Since 2017, HSBC has said it requires no proof for customers to change their gender and has included titles Mx, M, Mre and Misc to “reflect the financial needs of the trans community”.
HSBC said in July it would stop collecting data on the gender of customers as part of plans to be more inclusive for non-binary and trans people.
Lloyds changed its employee health insurance plans to include private sex change ops in 2016 — the first British company to do so.
Prophetic Link:
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” Luke 17:28-30
