The jailing of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis for five days recently has begun to galvanize Christian conservatives. Hundreds of people rallied at a Christian conservative gathering outside the Tennessee capitol.
The celebration of Constitution Day was sponsored by the Tennessee Pastors Network and drew Rafael Cruz, a pastor and the father of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican and presidential candidate. “The devil overplayed his hand,” said Cruz, speaking of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent same-sex marriage decision. “We’ve been silent too long,” he said, when calling for the country to elect a constitutionally conservative president. “Religious persecution ends in January 2017,” he said.
Joe Davis, husband of the Rowan County, KY clerk who was jailed for five days after defying a federal judge’s order to process same-sex marriage licenses, was also present at the rally. “What we saw in Kentucky with Kim Davis is tyranny,” Cruz said, to cheers and applause. Joe Davis asked for prayers for himself and his wife.
About 40 Tennessee legislators also appeared at the rally. Also speaking at the rally was Richard Land, president of Southern Evangelical Seminary. He also predicted that the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling would lead to a backlash. He suggested to reporters that if the next president is conservative, and appointed a conservative to the SCOTUS bench, the same-sex marriage ruling could be overturned. “The good news for America is that Supreme Court decisions are never final,” he said.
Religious freedom is one of the key principles of the U.S. Constitution. U.S. Christian conservatives, a substantive voting block are concerned that their freedoms are being eroded rapidly by those in power. U.S. constitutional freedoms are predicted to be repudiated as the United States careens toward the final prophetic events. And it should be no surprise to students of prophecy that the loss of other freedoms will prepare the world for Sunday laws.
“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near.” Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, page 451

Friday September 25th, 2015 at 07:53 PMThe Protestant churches are going to join church and state in America. Let us be aware of this fact and be ready, so we are not taken in the delusion sweeping the whole world. A-men

Tuesday September 29th, 2015 at 06:02 PMThis is all true; we can expect our freedoms to erode away to make space for a Sunday Law, but let’s not forget that she did break the law. When the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states, they nullified the provision that made it illegal in state constitutions.
In addition, when she refused to give marriage licenses to gay couples because of her “Christian beliefs” that included being 4 times divorced, she violated the First Amendment by effectively establishing a state religion. Her being against gay marriage wasn’t the problem; it was the fact that she is a public servant who ignored the highest court in this country. If she wants to be against gay marriage, she has that right. But she can’t use her public position to do so.

Wednesday September 30th, 2015 at 01:38 PMCogent point. But let us not forget that our liberties were established often by civil disobedience to unjust laws. While the Supreme Court ignored six millennia of historical record and case law (in more recent times) and overthrew a key principle of social order and stability, not to mention inciting the displeasure of God, they carved out a place for someone like Kim Davis to object that she cannot live her faith in the marketplace and in her society. Her courage is admirable. And when the time comes, laws will be made that must be broken in order to be faithful to God’s requirements, such as worship laws, etc. This is only the first round. Those who are faithful to God, will have to ignore the law, the courts and the magistrates ultimately. Kim sets an example that some may not accept as valid, but which others find especially meaningful in light of bible prophecy. Thanks for your respectful and cogent remarks. Pr. Mayer

Tuesday September 29th, 2015 at 11:59 PMI thought that Gods judgement would come on the U.S. after the supreme court ruling for gay marriage but now I see God is waiting for people like Kim Davis and certain ministers to be persecuted for standing up for biblical truth to help people make a decision for or against God.
