Vanity of Vanities, Pope Francis has been named man of the year by Vanity Fair magazine of Italy. Blazoned on its front page was a picture of the pope commemorating the first 100 days in the papal chair. The magazine said his first 100 days “had already made him one of the world’s top leaders.”
“The first 100 days of his pontificate have already propelled him to the top of the list of world leaders who are making history,” it said. “The revolution continues.”
Openly gay British pop star Elton John used the occasion to promote the gay agenda. He was quoted as saying that Francis was “a miracle of humility in an age of vanity… I hope he manages to get his message even further, to the most marginalized in society, to those communities which… desperately need his love. I am thinking for example of homosexuals…”
Italian singer Andrea Bocelli said “Pope Francis is truly a gift from God to his Church which has been tortured and crushed by the forces of evil.”
Both men had paid homage to the pope and were interviewed by the magazine along with three others.
Popularizing the papal image though popular magazines like Vanity Fair and by interviewing and quoting pop stars and other social icons can only increase the popularity of the papal office.
