I normally do not write my own briefings, but this prophetic concept will not be found in the mainstream media. I do not intend to argue with anyone or make a theological statement about the king of the north, just express some practical and prophetic observations from my point of view.
American politics are extremely polemic these days. Though there are religious people on the left, the political left has attracted secularists as well as liberals, while the right has aligned itself with the religious powers. They oppose each other so strongly that the two sides can hardly have a civil conversation about any political issue. The liberal left, embodied in the Democratic Party, has resorted to resistance politics rather than bipartisan negotiations. The right, meanwhile, has and is using its newfound power to oppose and limit the very things the left has championed. Both sides have taken increasingly extreme positions. And the battle is pitched! The enemy has strengthened secularism and liberalism among the political left to the point where a powerful reaction among the right is inevitable. Now, he is strengthening the religious right to become more vocal in defense of its principles. Both sides are much more politically engaged. The Bible actually predicts this very thing.
In the last two or three years, the left have taken off their “masks.” Some think that they now show their true colors, i.e. expanded abortion, LGBTQ+ equality, racism against Jews, unlimited illegal immigration (under a new name), and socialist ideals that include bigger-than-ever government with even more free handouts. Of the Democratic presidential candidates, at least one of them is a declared socialist, and many of the rest support socialist causes to varying degrees. Plus, many on the left have a defiant attitude toward conservative, or more “biblical” Christianity, among their constituents.
The right have made capital of these issues, portraying their opponents as godless and wicked socialists that have gone too far. Of course, there is hypocrisy and misrepresentations on both sides. One of my friends in the religious liberty arena even thinks that the religious right is angling for permanent political control. Considering what Bible prophecy actually predicts, he may be right. But what are the prophetic consequences of all this? That’s what really matters to me.
Daniel 11 describes the king of the north and the king of the south. The king of the north is represented by the papacy and other religious powers united together, while the king of the south is represented by the secular and leftist powers. To cut to the chase, the left has essentially identified itself with the king of the south. The conservative and religious right, on the other hand, has aligned itself with the king of the north and has brought its religious-political significance into American politics. Consequently America is divided politically between the king of the north and the king of the south.
Daniel tells us that the king of the south will push against the king of the north, but the king of the north will overcome him like a whirlwind. He says in chapter 11:40: “And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.”
As the “progressive” left has become more aggressive and has made more advances, it has pushed hard at the “religious” right, which, in turn, has hardened the right’s positions. As the religious right has gained power in American politics, the left has become more extreme in its political platform. This Hegelian dialectic has created the present climate in American politics. It is emotional and reactive and could lead to violence. The king of the north, perhaps through its Jesuit arm, is subtly and powerfully influencing it from behind the scenes.
Revelation 13:11-17 tells us that the second beast, or the United States of America, will impose worship laws, more commonly known as Sunday laws, on the nation as well as on the world. The left cannot and will not organize this movement. It will abridge other religious freedoms, but the thrust for a Sunday law will come from the religious right. Prophetically speaking, America is about to become much more conservative and religious. The left will push hard at the right, but the Bible predicts that the religious right will win.
Recent comments by various political leaders on the right have openly claimed the moral high ground and expressed their determination to win that battle. When they do, watch out! Your first amendment freedoms will be jeopardized. While the right is not talking about Sunday laws just yet, the left is absolutely terrified that they will lose all the hard won liberal and secular ground they have gained over many decades. They fear that, in a very short period of time, like a whirlwind, they will be swept from power, constrained to attend church, and especially caused to lose their freedom to openly defy heaven in their lifestyles. The Bible predicts that the left will be the political losers.
One conservative commentator recently said, “The Democrats need God.” Keep the Faith has, for quite some time now, predicted that Sunday laws will not be initiated as a direct political affront to the fourth commandment, though they are that indeed. But these laws will be agitated as a way to get secular liberals and other leftists schooled in superficial and apostate Christianity, which unites church and state.
Perhaps the question that should be asked is whether we have reached the stage where the king of the north will overcome the king of the south. We’ll see in the 2020 elections whether the right retains power, or whether the left will be given more time to push against the king of the north.
Ultimately, both sides are losers in the great controversy. Even the king of the north will “come to his end, and none shall help him.” (Daniel 11:45). God’s people should be aligned with heaven, not political parties, for political associations are not their calling. They must give God’s message of the three angels with all they’ve got under the latter rain of the Holy Spirit.

Saturday March 23rd, 2019 at 12:05 PMThis is what I see. The left is building up to the mother of all political backlashes. The pendulum swing will serve to utterly entrench the religious right in power. We know that the people will push on their leaders to “get the nation back to God.” This is not something that will take place with the left in power.

Saturday March 23rd, 2019 at 06:29 PMThe rich young ruler asserted that he keep all of God’s commandments – when he did not. The religious right are no different but feel superior regardless of the subject matter – complete self-righteousness.
Never forget, it was the religious rulers that had Christ crucified.

Tuesday April 9th, 2019 at 12:46 AMI have always believed what is happening in America between the (generally Atheist) left and the (generally false Christian) right is exactly what is referred to in Dan 11 and 12.

Thursday April 18th, 2019 at 03:00 PMWhat is problematic about this assessment is the broad-brush equation of liberal politics with secularism. I fully agree that secularism is represented by the king of the south in Daniel 11, while the papacy and its apostate Protestant allies are represented by the king of the north. But to equate secularism with progressive politics is simply wrong, as many devout and practicing Christians support progressive political initiatives, including those initiatives which give citizens the right to make reproductive and sexual choices in harmony with their personal consciences, without interference from the state.

Friday April 19th, 2019 at 10:04 PMIt is not true that people should be permitted to do anything they want so long as their conscience permits it and so long as it does not damage anyone else. The government is charged with protecting principles found in the last six commandments by making laws that enforce those principles. The moral fall of the United States in regard to the last six commandments is foundational to its moral fall on the first four.

Saturday April 20th, 2019 at 08:45 AMWe could argue your point about the moral jurisdiction of the non-theocratic state, but the point of my post is that many devout Christians adhere to progressive political principles. Whether or not they are right to do so is a separate issue. Where I must strongly object is with reference to the notion—widespread but fallacious—that political and theological liberalism, as well as political and theological conservatism, are ideological siblings.

Sunday April 21st, 2019 at 01:57 PMNo Seventh-day Adventist, especially pastors such as yourself, have the right before God to advocate abortion or LGBT+ lifestyle by advocating for, or supporting laws that legalize these things. This would be a Ten Commandment level moral evil that would lead to your own eternal ruin. As much as I appreciate and love you as a person, your support for moral and legal liberalism in unconscionable. As previously stated, the state is intended before God to legislate the last six commandments in harmony with His law. If they do not, God will judge them. Distracting the issue by fancy arguments will never justify support for these immoral practices. God’s people must advocate for morality in relation to the last six commandments.

Thursday April 18th, 2019 at 07:50 PMWill you please tell me Who “The (new) King” is, who is introduced and described in Dan. 11:36-39, who the king of the north and the king of the south come against in verse 40 at the time of the end? This king is the one that the whole rest of the chapter is about. It seems to me that this king is the same one spoken about in Revelation 9.

Thursday April 18th, 2019 at 10:45 PMIf Buttigieg is the nominee, the king of the north will be re-elected, which falls in line with your premise. I do believe we are watching prophecy being fulfilled!!!

Saturday April 20th, 2019 at 08:51 AMIt might be wise in this conversation for us not to get into the pundit business so far as the upcoming U.S. presidential election is concerned. For myself, I tend to believe that the current presidential incumbent is doing substantial damage to the cause of the king of the north, from which the power thus represented might well be long recovering. That too may be in the divine plan, as the ultimate determiner of the timing of Jesus’ coming is the spiritual readiness of God’s people. Looking at the condition of the church today, the Lord may well see fit to use various means to restrain the winds of strife, so that the servants of God might be sealed in their foreheads (Rev. 7:1-3).
It’s easy for us to get wrapped up in analyzing secular events and their significance for the coming crisis. They have their significance, most assuredly. But the most important consideration, according to the inspired pen, is the spiritual condition of God’s people.
