Israel recently signed an agreement with Greece and Cyprus that will link the three countries’ electricity grids via a 2000-mega-watt underwater cable. By doing this, energy will also be exported from Israel to the European continent. But cooperation on electricity is not the only collaboration tightening the relationship between the three nations, two of which are members of the European Union. The new agreement expands an existing partnership. For instance, Israeli companies previously established four desalination plants in Cyprus.
The new agreement also involves natural gas and water control and security issues including a cooperative project for sewage treatment and water recycling. The three countries will work together in a security arrangement to protect natural gas fields in the Mediterranean contested by Turkey.
Why is Israel snuggling up to the European Union? Turkey sees Israel’s partnership with Cyprus on natural gas as an affront. Turkey has challenged Cyprus over some of the gas fields it claims as its own, and has even threatened military intervention. Jerusalem improved its relationship with Cyprus and Greece as its relationship with Turkey soured in recent times with the rise of a more Islamist government. Israel needs the European Union for national security purposes.
But there is a deeper reason for the energy accord. Germany and the European Union have been aggressively maneuvering to secure and control the energy sources of the continent. This agreement on energy is one piece of the puzzle. Greece and Cyprus have each been rescued by German engineered bailouts, and now these subjugated vassal states will start supplying energy to the European Union through their partnership with Israel.
For its part, Israel wants to give all the help it can to the European Union or its member states, particularly in the key energy sector and other natural resources so that it can secure help from the EU on defense issues. If the European Union has a reasonably strong reliance on Israel for energy, threats to Israel will become threats to the European Union.
But there is still another side to this development. The agreement claims to provide economic development and security. However, drawing closer together in cooperation will also strengthen the influence and control of the Vatican-guided and German-dominated European Union. Giving the European Union more control over Israel or its resources will bring Israel into the orbit of the resurrected Holy Roman Empire. The prophetic little horn is rising and strengthening to the south and east. Giving the EU its natural resources brings Israel under the influence of the Vatican, which is the spiritual power behind the European Union.
“And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.”
NOTE: Since 34 AD, Literal Israel is no longer God’s church. God’s true church is now spiritual Israel.
“For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” Romans 2:28, 29
“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29
However, the Bible also exposes Satan’s effort to deceive. The “little horn” of Daniel 8 (or the Papacy) rises to power and draws attention away from the spiritual application to its own literal explanations.
The Vatican has designs on Israel, and in particular Jerusalem. Israel’s increasingly cozy relationship with the EU and to the Vatican suggests that the little horn wants to claim or at least control that which the prophet Daniel understood to be the “pleasant land” and which in his time was, in fact, the “pleasant land.”
Satan has always tried to misapply the prophecies, and has been permitted to do it to a certain extent. For instance, he got the Israelites to apply the prophecies of the second coming of Christ to the first appearance of the Messiah. This was a grave mistake. Now he wants to use prophecies that once applied to literal Israel before 34 AD and apply them today.
Bringing Israel into the EU orbit would give strength to the misapplication of Daniel 8:9 as the fulfillment of prophesy for literal Israel today. It was quoted here to show that literal Israel will strengthen its connection to the EU, and consequently to the Vatican, not to suggest that it is the modern “pleasant land.”
The move closer to the EU is prophetic in the sense that Satan is building his master deception. If he can manipulate current events to appear to “fulfill” the literal application of an ancient prophecy that applied to literal Israel, he can more readily sweep more people up in his final deception because they will miss the true spiritual application of the “pleasant land” as God’s true end-time church. While there will be more action in the Middle East, look for God’s true church among those “which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Revelation 12:17
