Scientists have found giant “pockmarks” or craters located deep in the ocean bed off New Zealand large enough to swallow whole cities, among a field of many other smaller ones stretching 20,000km. Furthermore, similar pockmarks, smaller in size, appear throughout the world.
Scientists believe the craters formed when gasses seeped through the ocean floor, but they appear to be inactive currently. The features are thought to be relics of the ice age, so they say.
However, the scientists admit that these craters may have resulted from a cataclysmic geological event: “Gas release from the larger pockmarks may have been sudden and possibly even violent, with a massive volume being expelled into the ocean and atmosphere within hours or days.”
This suggests a contrary view to the normal scientific explanation of slowly evolving geological formations, a cataclysmic flood, such as the Bible describes.
“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” Genesis 7:11
The fountains of the deep include water, fire and gas. Descriptions of the flood provide accounts that correlate with the evidence that science tries to spin as a long-ages process, when in reality, they happened in a few hours or days.
“Water appeared to come from the clouds in mighty cataracts. Rivers broke away from their boundaries, and overflowed the valleys. Jets of water burst from the earth with indescribable force, throwing massive rocks hundreds of feet into the air, and these, in falling, buried themselves deep in the ground.” Patriarchs and Prophets, page 99
Along with water, fire erupted during the flood creating large volcanoes all over the world. And as a result of the chemical reactions taking place under the surface of the earth, there was probably related gas and steam that also interacted with the disruptions of the earth’s surface and opened up great chasms which we now call seas, and created huge mountains. These gasses under great pressure could have easily caused the “pockmarks” or craters that scientists now seek to explain some other way.
Jesus warned that in the last days, the same wickedness that caused God to destroy the earth by flood would exist. “By the word of God . . . the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” 2 Peter 3:5-7. Another storm is coming. The earth will again be swept by the desolating wrath of God, and sin and sinners will be destroyed.
“The sins that called for vengeance upon the antediluvian world exist today. The fear of God is banished from the hearts of men, and His law is treated with indifference and contempt. The intense worldliness of that generation is equaled by that of the generation now living. Said Christ, ‘As in the days that were before the Flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the Flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.’” Matthew 24:38, 39, Patriarchs and Prophets, page 101
When God’s wrath is poured out on the human race, no doubt these same elements of water, fire and gas, will destroy huge cities. The destruction will not happen in the same way as the global flood at the time of Noah, but in a thousand other ways, God will release the arsenal of nature on the extremely wicked and intractably unrepentant human race.
