Diabetes Prevented by Plant-based Diet

Sunday October 4th, 2015
Print This Post Print This Post

A plant-based diet may successfully prevent, treat and even reverse type 2 diabetes. Leaving meat, milk and other animal products out of your diet may reduce your risk of diabetes and boost your hormone-binding proteins.

A plant-based diet will also likely help you control your weight and reduce your exposure to poisons and other health damaging chemicals, such as dioxins, nitrites and PCBs.

Eggs are apparently particularly risky. Eating one egg per week can double your risk of diabetes. Fish, especially salmon, is one of the primary sources of PCBs and other industrial toxins, which likely play a role in diabetes.

There are many things that help protect you from diabetes, such as Indian gooseberries (alma), soy, flaxseeds, green tea, chamomile tea, purple potatoes, broccoli sprouts and dried beans among other things.

Diabetes drugs are harmful because of their side effects, which cause increased risk of heart attack, heart failure and death. Regular exercise and weight loss work against diabetes.

Eating a plant-based diet, and healthy living, can help you avoid diabetes.

“Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods, prepared in as simple and natural a manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet.” Ministry of Healing, page 296
