In a 2001 radio interview, Illinois state senator Barack Obama said the U.S. Constitution was essentially “a charter of negative liberties.” This interesting allegation refers to the specific constitutional limitations placed on the federal government. It spells out clearly what the government cannot do. The founding fathers were fond of the concept of individual liberty and did their level best to protect it. With those restrictions come all the positive liberties of the people, which have made America prosperous.
The U.S. Constitution is viewed negatively in the minds of those promoting socialism and globalism. In their thinking, the government must be permitted to deliver so-called “rights” to the masses. This necessarily tramples on individual rights of the minority viewpoint, which the constitution was designed to protect.
Once the welfare state concept is deeply engrained in the American psyche, it will inevitably lead to the trampling of religious freedoms of minority religions, particularly under the stress of national or global catastrophe.
Progressives, as liberals like to be called, don’t like the U.S. Constitution because it stands in the way of their plans to deliver their own definition of “rights” to the majority of citizens. This is also the essence of a welfare state in which the government guarantees minimum, and mostly marginal benefits to the majority of its citizens. Socialism always keeps the masses poor and dependent on the government to keep life and limb together, and strips out the majority of the middle class by wealth redistribution. It also removes motivation for invention, industriousness, and productivity. For a recent example of this look at the bulk of people living under the authoritarian communist governments of Eastern Europe and the soviet nations.
President Obama and his colleagues openly despise the U.S. Constitution. They claim that the U.S. Constitution is an antiquated document ill-equipped to handle the complexities of “modern-day” America, and have turned the U.S. Constitution on its head. What they mean by “ill-equipped” is not entirely clear, but it at least means that it is not designed to support their socialistic nanny-state agendas.
Here is the statement President Obama made in its context. “The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and the Warren Court interpreted [it] in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. [It] says what the states can’t do to you. [It] says what the federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.”
The two ideas are in mortal conflict with each other. Either the constitution restricts the federal government and limits its power, which would encroach on individual liberties, or the government becomes larger, more controlling and dictatorial over society. There are no other alternatives. The natural “DNA” of government is to expand its power and control when not restricted by law or constitution.
In construing the U.S. Constitution as a “charter of negative liberties,” President Obama was actually talking about redistribution of wealth, the hallmark of globalist thinking. Globalists are collectivists, and have to overturn the principles of the U.S. Constitution and the legitimacy of the Supreme Court, in order to arrive at their prophetic destiny. And that is exactly what they are attempting to do by many, many actions of the Obama Administration and the Federal Government. Wealth redistribution is also a Vatican mantra. President Obama is working in concert with the Vatican on this issue.
So, where did Mr. Obama get his philosophy? Mr. Obama himself says that the best education he got was from his years as a community organizer in Chicago while working for the Gamaliel Foundation, a Catholic organization run by a former priest (Gamaliel’s Wikipedia entry formerly identified him as a former Jesuit priest. The entry has been revised).
Those who think that government must do something for them, place themselves under its control when accepting its handouts, and lose their individual liberties. America is doomed to the usual destination of all welfare states before it – economic, political and social collapse.
“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near.” Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, page 451
The protestant churches are clearly stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the Roman power. But they can only go so far with the United States Constitution in place. The American concept of republicanism is also now being repudiated in favor of socialism and the welfare state. Therefore, it has been necessary to have a president and other leaders that align with papal principles of wealth redistribution and socialism in order to repudiate republican government in favor of a socialist government. They despise the U.S. Constitution and are capable of undermining it significantly in order to bring America much closer to its prophetic destiny. “And he spake as a dragon.” See Revelation 13:11.

Tuesday October 8th, 2013 at 09:35 AMIt sounded from your article that this issue is to be blamed on a man namely the current President of the US, however, I believe this supersedes any one president as this is a system that spans time and space, those who are the major players will be replaced shortly whether they are labeled a Republican or a Democrat it doesn’t matter the head is the same all around. Some might interpret this article wrong, calling a name or identifying one person politically can point some in the wrong direction almost sounding like the right party would then be the Republicans which in fact none is better than the other, thesis, antithesis then they get synthesis which is what the devil is working towards. Different sides of the same coin. These 2 sides might seem opposed to each other but for the last couple decades they are just picking up where the last one left off no matter what side they are on. I really hoped that this article didn’t seem so bias but in the end I understand the point that you made and how it relates to end time prophecy.
God bless

Saturday November 2nd, 2013 at 06:56 AMDamien, Thank you for your comment. All you have said is true. Our briefings usually don’t into the full implications or some of the historical aspects of the issue. It is just a spotlight on a prophetically significant point in time. I usually include the broader issues when a subject rises to the level of a sermon. Thanks for pointing out some other sides of it. Pastor Mayer
