There is a new website that aims to expose secret funding flowing from foundations of billionaires to journalists and their newsrooms. BuyingBias.org’s spokesman Dain Gainor plans to expose family foundations, such as the Rockefellers, that fund left-wing news organizations. “It’s not journalism,” says Gainor. “It’s activism and it’s being painted as journalism. People can’t tell the difference because it’s not presented to them like it’s different.”
Gainer names organizations such as Inside Climate News and its reporters as an example. “A couple of them have gotten Pulitzer prizes, (and) they get tons of media awards,” Gainor said. “And they’re treated as neutral news organizations by the very media that should be investigating them.”
The problem is not so much that news organizations accept money from ideological donors. Conservative activists also support conservative media. It’s that the activist groups funding the leftist media denies that it is ideologically aligned with the groups they support. They pretend to support unbiased journalism. They should identify their ideology. “They’re not doing it and that’s the problem,” he says.
“For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.” Job 15:34, 35.
