Pope Francis granted an audience to Karolos Papoulias, the President of Greece. They discussed the legal status of religious communities and the role of religion in society and ecumenical collaboration within the Orthodox nation.
They also discussed the economic crisis, which has severely affected Greece and has led to a rise in support for “fascist ideologies that has the potential to undermine all the institutions that Europe has worked hard to establish.”
This would be a serious problem for Rome because the European Union is all about resurrecting Rome’s power over Europe.
As usual when dignitaries visit the pope, Papoulias met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, and Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States.
