In October, Los Angeles teachers for the Unified School District began wearing rainbow badges that proclaim they are allies of homosexual students and others who have chosen alternative lifestyles. In the name of protecting them from abuse, the school district is actually promoting the normalization of LGBT lifestyles among children.
The “Out for Safe Schools” initiative was designed to coincide with the National Coming Out Day on October 11. The initiative was jointly announced by the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center and the school district.
The badges that teachers and staff members are encouraged to wear identifies them as allies of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students. “We want all our youth and staff to know that it is safe to be you in LAUSD,” Supt. John Deasy said in announcing the initiative.
While verbal and physical abuse is wrong, LGBT organizations and the school district are seizing the opportunity to mute even reasonable voices that oppose gay lifestyle.
