El jefe de la Iglesia Católica Romana está hablando sobre cambiar uno de los pasajes más conocidos y más recitados de las Escrituras.
El Padrenuestro es recitado por millones de católicos y protestantes todos los días en todo el mundo. Sin embargo, el Papa ha abierto la posibilidad de cambiarlo. La frase con la cual él no está de acuerdo es: «Y no nos metas en tentación». Él sugiere, en aras de la claridad teológica, que una mejor traducción podría ser algo así como: “No nos dejes caer en la tentación”
«Esta no es una buena traducción», dijo el pontífice. «No es él quien me empuja a la tentación y luego ve cómo me he caído. Un padre no hace esto. Un padre ayuda rápidamente a los que son provocados por la tentación de Satanás». Francisco indicó que así, o una traducción similar, debería implementarse en todo el mundo.
«Esto que ha hecho el Papa es muy, muy peligroso y realmente su arrogancia es impresionante», dice el Dr. Richard Land, presidente del Southern Evangelical Seminary.
«Lo busqué», continúa Land, «y lo que se traduce es lo que realmente dice Jesús en el Nuevo Testamento: ‘No nos metas en tentación, sino líbranos del mal'».
Santiago 1:13 enseña que Dios no es el autor de la tentación. «Entiendo la preocupación del Papa, [pero] me horroriza su solución», dijo Land. «La Biblia se interpreta con la Biblia».
La oración pide «al Señor que nos proteja… para que no entremos en el camino de la tentación; y si lo hacemos, para liberarnos de las artimañas y la traición del maligno».
«Cuando comienzas a pensar que puedes cambiar las palabras que Jesús les dijo a sus discípulos, entonces ¿qué no puedes cambiar?» preguntó él. «Esto golpea la base de la fe cristiana».
Los comentarios del Papa no deberían causar sorpresa al mundo cristiano ya que la mayoría piensa que la Iglesia Católica puede cambiar la Palabra de Dios a su voluntad. Después de todo, ellos reclaman tener autoridad sobre la Biblia porque cambiaron el Día de Reposo del sábado al domingo, lo cual la mayoría de los cristianos ahora observan. Si el Papa puede cambiar el sábado, que está en los Diez Mandamientos, qué le puede impedir cambiar lo que quiera.

This elevates people above the Divine. This is not a good place to be. Rather practice what Micah 6:8 says and out walk with God and others will be on a more solid foundation.
