Adventist Today Media Ministry: God Does Not Mind ‘Committed Homosexual Relationships’

Wednesday October 23rd, 2019
Print This Post Print This Post

Amredeemed: It is amazing to see the lengths which some will go in order to justify the homosexual lifestyle. Theological revisionists are doing their best to distort, lie, and pervert the clear teachings of the Bible and to change the longstanding principles of our faith.

Whenever any Seventh-day Adventist media ministry, independent or otherwise, begins to tell you that homosexual relationships are all right and that God is fully supportive of it, you can be sure that a religious fraud is being perpetrated and that people are being led astray.

Such efforts deserve no support, no encouragement and no endorsement. They are false teachers doing the work of the enemy, not God’s. Pray that maybe one day their eyes may be opened before it’s too late.

Here is part of what Adventist Today published in an article on August 4, 2019 and quoted in its entirety:

“The Bible does not condemn committed homosexual relationships, because it never contemplates such a thing. I was impressed by this statement from pastor and psychologist Dr. Smuts van Rooyen: ‘If you go beyond proof-texting, you’ll see that what the Bible authors opposed is homosexuality as a means of idol worship. … Every reference to homosexuality in the Bible has to do with pagan worship, not to loving, monogamous, and faithful persons who seek to live out the implications of the gospel as a faithful heterosexual couple would.’”

We expect atheists and militant homosexual activists to express this kind of blatant biblical illiteracy. But for a so-called Seventh-day Adventist media ministry to exalt worldly humanism above the clear teachings of God’s word – this is utterly tragic.

The comments were apparently as advice to an Adventist lady who wanted to come out to her local church as being a lesbian.

“Dear Aunt Sevvy,
I am 23 years old, Adventist, and I’m finally admitting to myself that I’m a lesbian. I want to come out but I don’t think my local church would accept me. I’m even more afraid to tell my parents: they have always held a hard line about homosexuality and even if they don’t reject me I know that this will hurt them deeply, especially since they believe homosexuality is a choice. What now?
Signed, Likes Girls”

This was her message.

The Aunty goes ahead to add:
“Homosexuality is something that you are, not something that you choose. Even if you aren’t in a romantic relationship, your preference for the gender of the person you would have a relationship with is often quite clear to you.”

In essence [she is] implying God created some people homosexual and went ahead to condemn the behavior.

So if the Bible doesn’t condemn “committed homosexual relationships” then where are the God-approved “committed homosexual relationships” found in the Bible? Name one homosexual relationship in the Bible that was sanctioned by God? Where are all the examples in the Bible of same-sex relationships by men or women who were faithful to God? There’s not one.

David, Abraham, Jacob and every other faithful man found in the Bible were in loving heterosexual relationships. Which of the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, watchmen, kings, elders, judges, scribes, rabbis, or priests was in a “committed homosexual relationship”? There wasn’t any. They all had wives, and we can name their wives. The truth is that the Bible doesn’t condone homosexuality; it denounces it.

Dr. Smuts van Rooyen, who is quoted above by Adventist Today, is a former Seventh-day Adventist pastor who was fired from Andrews University. He also had his ministerial ordination revoked by the church for denying our historic teachings on 1844, the investigative judgment, the 2,300 day prophecy, and other fundamental beliefs.

In Leviticus Chapter 18 God warns His people against following the customs and practices of the “Egyptians” and the “Canaanites” (Leviticus 18:1-3)? So what were these practices? Let’s allow the Bible to tell us what they were.

1. Incest – sexual relationships with relatives. Leviticus 18:6-19 describes all the different family members that we are forbidden to marry.
2. Adultery – Leviticus 18:20.
3. Child Sacrifice – Leviticus 18:21.
4. Homosexuality – Leviticus 18:22.
5. Bestiality or sexual relationships with animals – Leviticus 18:23.

Then in Leviticus 18:24-30 God goes on to warn the nation of Israel that these are the five cardinal sins that defile the land and these were the sins that caused the Canaanites to be “cast out” of the land. Therefore, God commanded His people to reject these “Egyptian” and “Canaanite” customs and instead embrace His commandments. Remember, Sodom and Gomorrah were cities in the land of Canaan.

Incest, adultery, child sacrifice (abortion), homosexuality, and bestiality are all immoral under any and all circumstances. But Adventist Today is falsely claiming that if you can somehow remove homosexuality from the context of “idol worship” that this will make homosexuality acceptable to God.

Adventist Today is promoting the acceptance of homosexuality on the basis of human reasoning and philosophy and not on a plain “Thus saith the Lord.” They are saying that homosexuality can be justified as long as we remove it from the pagan, idol-worshiping context and place it into a loving, committed Christian context . . . .

Our Comment:
Even the church is being tainted by homosexuality.

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot.” Luke 17:28.

This is shocking. All those persons editors, producers at Adventist today need to be fired. The membership of the wold church should or MUST condemn this statement as not approved by the church.

Anytime this is left unchallenged by our world church I will join the fight to call out the church as a body of false leaders. I already shared this post to our Personal Ministry WhatsApp group.

I will be watching and waiting.

I took a class under Smuts van Rooyen back in 1969 at Southern. Loved the class and am SO disappointed he has chosen this way. May God forgive him. We must be cautious even in our church about the teachings. God help us!

They were best of friends – like how two straight guys are best of friends and love each other in that context. They did t have gay or homosexual love. That would be plainly outside of what the text and context of their friendship revealed in scripture

Best friends. Any thought of it being sexual is perverted and a corruption of a holy relationship.

Two men that are deeply in touch with their feelings. Males don’t have to be homosexual to be that way. But often in western culture it is seen as “gay”, also males are taught to suppress their emotions in many other ways. so males tend to not behave this way towards best friends. Especially openly. But homosexual culture allows it. It’s like how homosexual culture embraces the rainbow so now any male wearing rainbow colors is seen as advertising that they’re gay.

It must be remembered that Adventist Today is not a church entity and is not in any way governed by the SDA church. They are an independent left wing publication. I don’t even know how they can get away by using the name Adventist for they are a disgrace to the name.

The warning of Jesus against Christian leaders promoting sexual immorality is contained in the letter to Thyatira. Notice in that letter that the leadership of the church is promoting immorality and faces immediate judgment, both the leaders and “her children”. Jesus gives them time to repent because He is merciful but He will come in judgment to those who published this, if they don’t repent. He that has an ear let him ear what the Spirit says to the church.

To the extent that the Seventh-day Adventist Church allows leftist ideology to infect its ranks, is the extent that you will see these abominations permitted in His holy place.

2 Thess 3:6, 14 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Romans 16:17-18 17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them*. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
