Then you should have a real problem with Jesus overturning the tables of the money changers in the temple. This attempt to appear neutral while ignoring that the entire history of the United States has been oppression and murder of Black and Indigenous people–one of the primary reasons early Adventists identified the US as a beast–is a failure of prophetic insight. You can say that there are better ways to protest and emphasize that many protesters have opposed looting WITHOUT making a false equivalency. This kind of failure to analyze history and politics with real nuance is intellectually and ethically irresponsible. I pray that those in your ministry will start listening to and reading more Black voices, and will recognize that the prophetic call is to seek justice for all who are oppressed, not just Sabbath-keepers!
