La aceptación de Israel hacia las relaciones homosexuales está creciendo rápidamente. De acuerdo con una reciente encuesta, el 90 por ciento de los israelíes seculares, el 77 por ciento de los judíos tradicionales, el 46 por ciento de los judíos religiosos nacionales y el 16 por ciento de los judíos ultra-Ortodoxos apoyan el matrimonio homosexual.
Israel aún no reconoce los matrimonios del mismo sexo a pesar de ser una de las naciones más «progresistas» del Medio Oriente. La Knesset recientemente votó en contra de una serie de proyectos de ley que pretendían otorgar derechos a los homosexuales.
