ISIS Attack in Baghdad Kills at least 215.

Wednesday July 13th, 2016
Print This Post Print This Post

The massive truck bombing at a busy shopping center in war-weary Baghdad killed at least 215 and wounded more than 200 early Sunday morning July 3, making it the largest death-toll in years. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, the latest in a string of assaults during the holy month.

People were shopping before the beginning of the dawn fast that marks the end of Ramadan for Muslims.

“A second bomb exploded Sunday at an outdoor market in the Shaab neighborhood of southeastern Baghdad, killing one person and wounding five others.”

The twin bombings came after massacres at a café in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the attack at the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, and attacks on security targets in Yemen. Also there were attacks near the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah, near a mosque in Oatif, and in Medina, where four people were killed. In May there were also attacks at a night club in Orlando, Florida, an attacker killed a police commander and his partner in France, and four Israelis were killed at a Tel Aviv market. Some of these attacks were sponsored by ISIS. Others were inspired by it.

“Cedric Leighton, a CNN military analyst and retired Air Force colonel, said he thinks the attacks will worsen, adding that ISIS’ game plan is to generate instability.”

“They are trying to create enough chaos in Iraq itself so that the Iraqi forces will find it very difficult to actually take advantage of the forward momentum they have achieved because of their victory in Falluja…”

“As the restraining power of the Holy Spirit shall be withdrawn, because of the impenitence and ingratitude of men, terrible things will be witnessed in the earth.” Review and Herald, September 3, 1889

Joel 2 would actually approach this differently. The Holy Spirit being poured it is preceded by great calamity, which draws people to Jesus. As we read the headlines, thousands upon thousands of Muslims are turning to Jesus because if of the horrors of ISIS. Every plan of the enemy is turned for God’s purposes!
