In a powerful move, My Faith Votes announced that Gov. Mike Huckabee has accepted the position as the organization’s Honorary National Chairman, succeeding Dr. Ben Carson who is now serving as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Gov. Mike Huckabee will lead one of America’s largest grassroots voter movements, focused exclusively on the Christian electorate. During the 2016 Presidential Election, My Faith Votes was largely credited with activating a sizable percentage of the 25 million Evangelicals who were registered to vote in previous elections but had chosen not to, prompting a record turnout by Evangelicals and electing Donald Trump as President of the United States.
“Gov. Huckabee is an icon of the conservative movement, and easily one of the most influential Christians in politics. He understands as well as anyone why people of faith must be involved in the public square,” said Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes. “During a time when crucial decisions on immigration, health care, religious freedom and the sanctity of human life will be made, Christians must be involved in the national debates more than ever before.”
“I could not be more thrilled to accept this role as the new honorary national chairman of My Faith Votes,” said Gov. Huckabee. For nearly forty years, as a pastor, governor and presidential candidate, I’ve never been more convinced of this: Christians will determine every election in America if they just show up. We’ve reached a tipping point in America’s history, and we’ll either emerge from it stronger and better than ever before or we’ll slide into an irreversible decline. It’s time for people of faith to step up to the plate and lead our nation.”
“My goal is simple: to see every single Christian in America show up during every single election to make their voices heard,” Gov. Huckabee added. “I’m proud to join My Faith Votes.”
Johnnie Moore, spokesperson for My Faith Votes, also welcomed the arrival of Gov. Huckabee to the organization and expressed confidence in the movement’s future.
“My Faith Votes played a consequential role in the 2016 election,” said Moore. “We are just getting started.”
Huckabee’s leadership with My Faith Votes comes at a critical time during the ramp-up for the 2018 mid-term elections. Huckabee and My Faith Votes will be launching a comprehensive campaign to motivate all 90 million Christians to act on their faith and vote, as many liberal groups plan to aggressively push socially progressive agendas and candidates opposed to Christian values in the upcoming elections.
America’s Christian churches are learning how to work together on projects common to them all. The main point on which they all essentially agree is Sunday observance. They put aside their other varying beliefs and unite in political action. Once they have made America more conservative and much more religious, they will press for Sunday laws. It is as predictable as the setting sun. And that would spell the setting sun of America’s religious freedom.
“When the churches of our land, uniting upon such points of faith as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and sustain their institutions, then will Protestant America have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy.” Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, page 277.
