Unusual November Tornadoes Crash through Southeast USA

Monday December 5th, 2016

As fires raged in Gatlinburg, dozens of tornados ripped through parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, on Wednesday November 30, some of them deadly. At least five people were killed and more than a dozen more were injured as homes and businesses were devastated. One of the tornados struck a day care center.

Hundreds of trees were down in Tullahoma, Tennessee as tornado watches and warnings spread to Georgia.

November is an unusual time for tornadoes in the southeast of the United States. “People don’t think much about tornadoes in November, but it can be feast or famine for these storms this late in the year,” said Patrick Marsh, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. Storm Prediction Center. “Any time you have loss of life, it’s significant.”

Marsh said severe storms began rolling through Louisiana on Tuesday afternoon. Some were “supercell” storms capable of igniting hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. As the storms tracked east-northeast, they became stronger… “By early Wednesday the system had become a wrecking ball, tearing through Alabama and Tennessee and uprooting trees, downing power lines and smashing buildings.

“Frequently we hear of earthquakes, of tempests and tornadoes, accompanied with thunder and lightning. Apparently these are capricious outbreaks of seemingly disorganized, unregulated forces. But God has a purpose in permitting these calamities to occur. They are one of His means of calling men and women to their senses. By unusual workings through nature God will express to doubting human agencies that which He clearly reveals in His Word. He will answer the question, “Who hath gathered the wind in His fists?” He will reveal Himself as the One who “maketh the clouds His chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind.” “He bringeth the wind out of His treasuries.” “The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.” “He gave to the sea His decree, that the waters should not pass His commandment: when He appointed the foundations of the earth.” “He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: He toucheth the hills, and they smoke.” Manuscript Releases, Vol. 19, pages 279 and 280.
