Will there be Peace on the Korean Peninsula?

With the Korean War still not officially over, and a recent history of tense war posturing between North Korea and the United States, including nuclear tests in North Korea, naval war games in the region, and other provocative behavior on both sides, the world has been tensely preparing for nuclear war between the United States and North Korea. There was even a false alarm nuclear missile scare in Hawaii.

Can there be peace in the east? Is it possible that there will be a resolution to the many decades of tension between North and South Korea and their respective allies, the United States and China?

Don’t get too excited. While there was a lot of fanfare surrounding the historic meeting, keep in mind that both North and South Korea have issues to resolve that the other side opposes deeply. This will not be a quick process even if there is some rapprochement.

Why is Kim so willing to talk about giving up his nuclear program? There could be many and varied reasons, such as the loss of support from China for the program, the inability of the North Korean government to fund the program, or any number of other reasons. However, make no mistake about it, Kim is not going to let go of his hold on power and is using his nuclear program as a bargaining chip on the geopolitical stage.

It is possible that the two sides could come to an agreement to officially end the Korean War. The North could permit some limited emigration and other symbolic gestures designed to give Kim and North Korea global standing. Moreover, Kim could be aiming for a deal that would see the United States military out of South Korea. While ever there is military tension, there is no way to pressure the United States to leave. But, whatever the case, try not to expect too much. North Korea has its own agenda, which is served by the meeting with the South Korean President. The good old-fashioned geo-political brinkmanship between Kim and Trump isn’t over yet. The cancelation of the meeting with Kim in Singapore suggests more rounds to come.

North Korea is a Chinese puppet. Its blustery behavior could have been taking attention away from China. Could China be getting ready to bring North Korea into the Russian-Chinese power bloc? The world is being realigned right now, with China playing a major role in the block as its second most powerful entity. Watch the developments carefully. They are leading to the end of all things. It all plays directly into end-time prophetic fulfillment.

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring…” Luke 21:25.
