By Kris Loewen: “I want to say, in response to Bible-proof-texting and using “clobber” passages to single out, judge, and marginalize lgbtq people, there are many ways of reading the scriptures faithfully. Feminists, liberation, process, public, queer, and other theologies approach God and spirituality with just as much sincerity and legitimacy as literalistic patriarchal white-western-centered readings. The Bible is not a monolith, it is not exhaustive, and it is not perfect in its exploration and expression of the divine. I follow the God who exists beyond the scriptures, who makes herself known through the love of people, in the beauty of music, through scientific inquiry and experimentation, evolving over the course of history, in private dreams, by way of therapists and coaches, at the hands and advice of medical professionals, in the midst of waterfalls, through the testimony of truth tellers on Twitter, and in the touch of sweet old grandma’s. I believe the arc of the universe bends toward grace – the essence of god is love – and that if I can conceive of a being more gracious and kind than god, then my god is far too small. I believe god revealed themself through Jesus, and continues to do so through authors and poets and (sometimes) politicians, and if we’re lucky, even pastors.

This pastor advocates that the Bible is imperfect in its expression, promotes LGBTQ acceptance as a legitimate lifestyle, that there are many different ways to approach truth, wokeism, and God is a female. Why is he still an SDA pastor?
