Mexico Wonders After…

Pope Francis and the President of Mexico, Enriqué Peña Nieto, met recently at the Vatican to discuss migration, unemployment, poverty, violence and drug trafficking. They also discussed Mexican constitutional amendments regarding religious freedom.

Following the meeting, Nieto met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, secretary for Relations with States. (D.C.L.)

Mexico is a largely Catholic nation. Meetings like this have political consequences both nationally and in international and global relations. The United States and Mexico share a common border over which thousands of Latinos pass every year from many Latin American countries. The Papacy has a deep interest in relations with Mexico as well as the United States because it wants to influence the policies that are made to deal with illegal immigration into the United States.

All the world wondered… Revelation 13:3.
