Man Regains Faith through KTF Website
“Pastor Mayer, my son in Hawaii has come back to the Lord because of your ministry,” John told me at a recent Sabbath meeting in Oregon, “And he is now attending church,” John said that his son had left the Seventh-day Adventist faith years ago. But recently, he found our Keep the Faith website and is now an avid reader and listener to our messages and briefings. “And he has all of his colleagues at work watching Keep the Faith’s website,” he added. “His wife, who had never been an SDA was recently baptized because of your CDs,” enthused John.
We praise the Lord for being able to collaborate with Him in His wonderful work of saving lost souls.

Highwood Spirit
Do you remember Tina, one of the ladies we met on the street in Melbourne during our literature distribution campaign? She works in a fashion shop and seemed so interested in truth and spiritual fellowship. Later she told Stine (pronounced Steena), our Bible worker that she was considering joining the Catholic Church and apparently didn’t want any more contact.
Stine just gave her space for a while as our prayer warriors continued to pray for Tina. For a month and a half there was total silence. But God was at work in the silence. Then one night just as Stine was going to bed, she got a text message from Tina. Stine was on holiday in Norway. “Stine, I was thinking of you. Maybe you are overseas. I miss talking to you and praying with you. I hope you are well. Love, Tina. God bless you.”
Praise the Lord! Shortly after Stine got back from Europe, Tina rang her for the first time since she broke contact. She just wanted to talk and talk and talk, especially about spiritual things, some of them pretty deep.
She said she was still interested in the Catholic Church, but God gave Stine wisdom to handle it well. “There are surely many good people in various churches” she told Tina, “and God looks on the heart. But the light is progressive when it comes to the truth.” Stine explained to her that God’s church is where the truth is, and that many churches have not followed truth as it has progressed. This concept impressed Tina.
That day Tina had spent much time in prayer and Bible study, which probably prepared her for the talk. Stine explained to her about the very foundation of Christianity, victory over ego, death to sin and the choice to let God live in us. Tina was very touched by the simple but very deep Bible study.
Tina also has some challenges with her Catholic boyfriend. Obviously God is at work. Perhaps God is unsettling her so that she will seek light and more understanding about the love of God. Sometimes God lets us pursue the wrong path because He knows that it will not satisfy and that we will come back to the right way. Stay tuned, more to come.
Highwood also recently held a one week medical missionary class. It was taught by Kaye Sehm with 26 students. The enthusiasm was palpable. The students learned about nutrition, herbal remedies, poultices, hydrotherapy and much more. The very successful Medical Missionary Training program was packed with common sense information and practical training.
Many of the students went home to tell others what they learned. “I’ve been inspired by coming here!” said one of the participants. Next time this course is offered, why not consider coming along.

Superbug Increasing Five-fold in USA Hospitals
According to the August issue of the journal Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, community hospitals in the southeastern U.S. have had a 500% increase in the number of dangerous superbugs that are drug-resistant in the last five years. Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, or CRE’s, as they are called, are resistant to most commonly used antibiotics and are now considered to be “one of the three greatest threats to human health,” according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Researchers found that almost all of the 305 CRE infections in 2012 were related to health care (health care activities and hospital procedures) and that greater use of antibiotics can cause infections in many areas of the body. The death rate from CRE infections is nearly 50 percent once a patient is infected.
The problem with CREs arose because of the systematic abuse of antibiotics, which created the perfect opportunity for deadly bacteria. Narrowly-targeted chemical drugs lack the kind of full-spectrum effect found in nature, such as in herbs like garlic. The big pharmaceutical drug companies’ chemical approach has encouraged bacteria to develop defenses against antibiotics and over time, has created widespread resistance. There is no drug, no chemicals and no experimental medicines that currently kill these superbugs. And apparently there are no new antibiotic drugs under research. Most drug companies are focused on more profitable lifestyle management medications like statins and blood pressure drugs that once started the patient usually takes for life. Drugs have caused the superbug pandemic that we now face.
“This dangerous bacteria is finding its way into health care facilities nationwide. Even this marked increase likely underestimates the true scope of the problem given variations in hospital surveillance practices,” co-lead author Dr. Joshua Thaden said in a news release.
“A CRE epidemic is fast approaching. We must take immediate and significant action in order to limit the transmission of these dangerous pathogens [germs] throughout our hospitals and acute care facilities,” he urged.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has even said that we are living in “post-antibiotic era,” and warned that governments need to take immediate action to prevent a world where antibiotics are no longer effective. “Every day we delay it becomes harder and more expensive to fix this problem,” said CDC Director Thomas Frieden. “And, in fact, for some patients and some pathogens we’re already there.”
Most Doctors have been so deeply indoctrinated into the world of pharmaceuticals, that they refuse to use natural substances to treat infections. Yet nature has many such substances that can kill superbugs, including garlic, honey and honey products, etc.
Are we living in the early stages of a global pandemic of superbugs? Perhaps. Big cities are very good breeding ground for superbugs. And because of the overuse of antibiotics, a perfect storm may be developing.
