Hessen also enables 2G in supermarkets

News•in-24, by Janice: The Hessian state government under Volker Bouffier (CDU) has passed new corona rules. The 2G option was expanded to include the entire retail sector. This means: even supermarkets and grocers can decide to only let in those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. Then the operator can waive the mask and distance requirement. The state chancellery announced that the regulation was issued at the request of the retail industry.

The 2G option in supermarkets is highly controversial. Unvaccinated people are cut off from basic care if they are widely implemented. In Hesse, however, they do not expect this to happen: “We are assuming that this option will only be used on a daily basis and that everyday businesses will not make use of it,” said the state government. Without 2G, however, the mask requirement still applies.

In Saxony, too, the state government had already thought about a 2G option in retail and explicitly in supermarkets in mid-September. The goal: to increase the low vaccination rate in the state. But Saxony has so far decided against this regulation.

Our Comment:
The unvaccinated are being gradually separated from the rest of society. Sabbath-keepers will eventually be treated in much the same way, including having their ability to buy their groceries severely restricted.
