Floods in Thailand Kill 23

Recent floods in Bangkok, Thailand have killed 23 people and affected areas across the country over the past two weeks. Thirty-two out of 77 provinces and 2.8 million people have been affected. More than 15,000 have been evacuated from their homes.

“Thanks to the dredging of the canals and the weather, at this point there is nothing to panic about,” Bangkok Gov. Sukhumbhand Paribatra tweeted Monday night. “Currently the water level in the Chao Phraya River is still low, so there’s nothing to worry.”

Authorities have downplayed concerns of a repeat of the 2011 devastating floods that killed over 800 people ad swamped agriculture and residential lands as well as the country’s industrial areas.

“In fires, in floods, in earthquakes, in the fury of the great deep, in calamities by sea and by land, the warning is given that God’s Spirit will not always strive with men.” Last Day Events, page 26
