Europe Preparing for War

In the aftermath of the Brexit vote, German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, along with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault published a position paper announcing the EU’s transformation into a “political union” and called for the EU’s comprehensive military buildup for global military operations. They pushed for a “European Security Compact” to maintain “employable high-readiness forces” and establish “standing maritime forces.” Britain has always adamantly opposed an integrated EU military policy. So, with Britain leaving the EU, Berlin sees an opportunity to revive its ambitions for a common EU-wide military.

Steinmeier and Ayrault noted that Britain’s withdrawal from the EU has created a “new situation” with consequences “for the entire EU.” Because Berlin and Paris believe that the EU must contribute to “peace and stability in the world,” steps must be made “towards a political union in Europe, and that the EU should become “more coherent and more assertive on the world stage.” France and Germany will “promote the EU as an independent and global actor.”

Steinmeier and Ayrault pointed to more numerous “external crises” that have moved closer to Europe to support their conviction that the Middle East and Africa need their military intervention. No mention was made of Europe’s involvement in fomenting war and civil war. The security compact will probably make things less secure.

The plan calls for centralized integration of “EU foreign and security policy bringing together all EU policy instruments.” In other words, more power in the hands of fewer people, a key globalist objective. It also calls for a “permanent civil-military chain of command,” in order to “conduct civil and military operations more effectively.” The plan is calling for more military equipment, coordination of defense efforts throughout the block, including surveillance and data exchange, and follow through on financial commitments of each member state to support a EU military.

In addition, the plan calls for the EU to establish “operational capacity” at the EU level to enhance “internal security.”

“And there shall be wars and rumors of war.” Matthew 24:6
