La Comisaria de Comercio ante la UE, Cecilia Malmstr\u00f6m, calific\u00f3 el acuerdo como \u00abun nuevo modelo de pol\u00edtica comercial con los pa\u00edses en desarrollo\u00bb. Se trata del primer acuerdo de la UE con un pa\u00eds en desarrollo.<\/p>\n<p>La UE firm\u00f3 un acuerdo similar con Singapur el a\u00f1o pasado. Tanto Singapur y Vietnam son miembros de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Naciones del Sudeste Asi\u00e1tico (ASEAN), el bloque comercial regional compuesto por 10 pa\u00edses. Tambi\u00e9n la UE est\u00e1 adelantando conversaciones separadas con otros dos miembros de la ASEAN, Malasia y Tailandia y tambi\u00e9n la UE est\u00e1 negociando un acuerdo de libre comercio con Jap\u00f3n. Bruselas y Corea del Sur ya tienen un acuerdo de libre comercio.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abNuestro objetivo final es tener un acuerdo entre las regiones\u00bb, dijo Malmstr\u00f6m en agosto. Los acuerdos de libre comercio entre las regiones son el primer paso en la regionalizaci\u00f3n y un paso intermedio hacia la globalizaci\u00f3n.
