Pero un nuevo estudio ha demostrado que tambi\u00e9n ayuda a fortalecer los huesos y prevenir las fracturas. Un importante estudio realizado con m\u00e1s de 10.000 personas demostr\u00f3 que aquellos que consum\u00edan una mayor cantidad de vitamina C todos los d\u00edas eran mucho menos propensos a sufrir fracturas.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores dicen que el secreto radica en que la vitamina C tambi\u00e9n se encuentra abundantemente en tomates, fresas, kiwis y br\u00f3coli. Analizaron la ingesta de vitamina C en 2.899 pacientes con fractura de cadera y compararon los resultados con 7.908 voluntarios sanos de una edad similar.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados revelaron que por cada 50 mg al d\u00eda de ingesta de vitamina C, aproximadamente una naranja de tama\u00f1o mediano, o un cuarto de vaso de jugo de naranja reci\u00e9n exprimido, el riesgo de una fractura se redujo en un cinco por ciento. Esto significa que un vaso promedio que contenga ocho onzas l\u00edquidas de jugo podr\u00eda reducir el riesgo en un 20 por ciento y dos vasos en un 40 por ciento.<\/p>\n<p>Se cree que la vitamina C evita la fragilidad de los huesos al estimular las c\u00e9lulas llamadas osteoblastos para que se conviertan en c\u00e9lulas \u00f3seas maduras. Pero para ello, se necesita al menos 40 mg de vitamina C por d\u00eda.
