Pope Francis received Michelle Bachelet Jeria, the President of Chile at the Vatican. They discussed issues of common interest such as their bilateral relations, “the protection of human life, educational and social peace.” According to a Vatican statement, they emphasized the role and “contribution” of the Catholic Church and Catholic Institutions.
As usual for diplomatic meetings at the Vatican, President Jeria met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and with Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
